I never knew Ibadan also has a Lake called Eleyele Lake. Ibadan isn’t known for having many water bodies. This lake is not just for sightseeing but also used as means of transportation.
Eleyele Lake is a lake that holds boundaries between the main city of ibadan with other three(3) village’s. Which are:-
- Oba Ido village
- Mechanic village
- Alakuta village
People that dwell in this village are businessmen and women, mostly traders, who travel all the way from their village to the city daily.
Although I did not cross to the village’s because I don’t have much time. I only explore the lake by taking a boat ride.
During my exploring on the lake, I felt the cool breeze of the lake and the boat ride was cool. Some parts of the lake are covered with some aquatic plants, biologically called hydrophytes.
At the shore of the lake lies some local bars where you can get yourself some chilled palm wine and bushmeat. You can also relax under the trees.
The Aafa who was our tour guide makes me understand that this is actually a branch of the Kosoko Marine and Tourism Centre and not much work has been done to develop the area. Mainly looking at this lake, you will discover it holds a lot of potential and is also a wonderful place to explore. They still need more work to be done.
After much discussion with Aafa kosoko, he concluded by saying the government should come to develop their region and also he encouraged people to visit the lake. The entire experience cost me ₦1,000.
